Bite Insight began as a personal product exploration into how design and technology could simplify nutritional information for everyday use. With food labels often being dense, inconsistent, or difficult to interpret, the goal was to create an experience that made ingredient and nutritional data more accessible and meaningful. The project explored how scanning or reviewing product information could surface clear, relevant insights, helping users make informed decisions more confidently while shopping. I led the product thinking, UX, and interface design, shaping the concept from early ideas through to a considered MVP-level experience.
One of the key challenges was balancing accuracy with simplicity. Food and nutritional data can be complex, and there was a risk of overwhelming users or oversimplifying information to the point of losing trust. To address this, I focused on prioritising clarity and hierarchy — surfacing the most important insights first, while allowing deeper detail to be accessed when needed. The interface design leaned heavily on consistency and pattern reuse, ensuring the experience felt intuitive and fast, even when presenting unfamiliar information. Design decisions were guided by real-world use cases, such as scanning products on the go or quickly comparing options in a supermarket environment.
Bite Insight resulted in a clear, well-structured product concept that demonstrated how thoughtful UX and interface design could reduce friction around everyday decision-making. The project reinforced the value of strong information hierarchy, careful language, and scalable design patterns when working with complex data. It also served as a practical exploration of end-to-end product design — from problem definition and user needs through to interface execution and system thinking.
